Inclusion of Turkish Venture in the List of Top Global ‘Ed Tech’ Startups

Uppy, a Turkish education technology venture known for its significant impact potential, has earned a spot among the world’s top startups in the field of education technology, reinforcing its pioneering role in the “ed tech” sector.

During the G-20 Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) Summit held in Bangalore, India, Uppy was awarded the prestigious title of “Second Best Ed Tech Startup.” The summit brought together 120 startups from 20 countries and marked a significant achievement within the realm of education technology.

The accolade, unanimously decided by the international jury, was presented to Uppy by Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology of India, on behalf of Prime Minister Modi.

Scientifically Grounded Approach

For five years leading up to this recognition, Uppy diligently worked on combining technological innovation with a scientifically grounded educational model.

Uppy’s participation in the G-20 India summit, at the invitation of the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology, showcased its success as a beacon of entrepreneurship, earning one of the most notable global awards in the history of Turkish startups.

With investments from prominent figures such as Ali Sabancı, Ali Koç, Nevzat Aydın, and leading venture capitalists in Turkey, Uppy’s valuation rose to $45 million in its latest funding round. This recent award further solidified Uppy’s position as it continues to expand.

Multilingual and Global Reach

Uppy’s impact goes beyond Turkish borders. It offers multilingual capabilities in Turkish, English, German, Spanish, and Portuguese. With plans for global expansion in the final quarter of 2023, Uppy is set to launch in countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, Brazil, and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.

Uppy’s Innovation: A Safer Digital Experience

Uppy’s innovation shines as a super app that safeguards children aged 2 to 6 from potential hazards in the digital world. By consolidating games, books, cartoons, YouTube videos, music, and meditation, Uppy ensures an engaging and secure digital experience for young learners.

At its core, Uppy boasts a 5,000-word dictionary, introducing children to new words while enhancing their cognitive development in an enjoyable manner.

The founder and chairperson of Uppy, Ayşe Şule Bilgiç, highlights the importance of preparing children for the digital world while maintaining a balanced approach.

Uppy’s partner and CEO, İbrahim Coşkuner, emphasizes the startup’s success in Turkish entrepreneurship history, particularly with its child-safe iOS and Android platform. Coşkuner explains the proprietary artificial intelligence that analyzes a child’s behavior, providing reports and suggestions for their development.
